SSM RPL

SSM RPL sub-types are processed by the system to change the routing of a flight schedule. In some cases, it is also possible to make changes to both aircraft type and time in the same message. For specific changes, it is advisable to use the appropriate SSM sub-type (EQT for aircraft type changes or TIM for time updates).

The following scenarios illustrate this functionality.

Two schedules with the same flight number (XS5752) and routing (LHR - FRA), but with different aircraft types and departure/arrival times on alternate days are updated according to different SSM RPL scenarios below.

Schedule 1 has the following details: Day of Week 246, Aircraft Type 757, Departure 1400 and Arrival 1630.

Schedule 2 has the following details: Day of Week 1357, Aircraft Type 321, Departure 1405 and Arrival 1635.

  • First scenario: an SSM RPL is received to change the aircraft type and flight times of flight XS5752 This change needs be to applied for 02OCT15 and 03OCT15, for two consecutive days (56) only.

The change or update resulted in five schedule periods. The dates on which the changes were made were not included in the same schedule, and it would not be possible to combine any of the other schedule date ranges as details are not all identical.

Schedule 01OCT15 - 01OCT15 was originally part of 01OCT15 - 22OCT15, Day of Week 246, which also included 03OCT15. The change was made by the SSM RPL affecting 03OCT15. This means that the schedule needs to be split, leaving 01OCT15 as a stand-alone schedule, and the rest of the schedule now covering 06OCT15 - 22OCT15.

The schedule for Day of Week 1357 is applicable on 02OCT15, which was the other date affected by the SSM RPL. The split only needed to be done on that date, leaving the rest of the original schedule period intact and displayed as 04OCT15 - 23OCT15.

  • Second scenario: an SSM RPL is received to change the routing and times every Monday only, in the date range specified.

The change was made on the affected dates specified in the RPL (05OCT15 - 12OCT15 - 19OCT15) which are all found within a single schedule (04OCT15 - 23OCT15). However, the schedule still needed to be split several times.

The affected date range 05OCT15 - 19OCT15 is now a new period as it repeats every Day of Week 1 or Monday. The original period has been split into the following:
    • 04OCT15 - 04OCT - this date range falls before the start of the date range change by the SSM RPL.
    • 07OCT15 - 18OCT15 - this date range falls after the change and is now only days 3, 5 and 7. Day 1 has been removed as that is now covered by the new schedule, 05OCT15 - 19OCT15.
    • 21OCT15 - 23OCT15 - this date range falls after the end of the date range change by SSM RPL.
  • Third scenario: an SSM RPL is received to change the aircraft type and flight times on two separate date ranges, 07OCT15 and 14OCT15, as well as 16OCT15 - 17OCT15.

The first change caused a split to the schedule covering the period 07OCT15 - 18OCT15, days 357 as both the flights fall within that period. The second change affected two schedule periods, the one from 07OCT15 - 18OCT15 again as this includes 16OCT15, day 5 as well as the schedule 06OCT15 - 22OCT15 which includes 17OCT15, day 6.

A new schedule period was created for the first change on 07OCT15 and 14OCT15. Two schedule periods were created for 16OCT15 and 17OCT15, as these dates were previously part of different schedule periods.
