Setting Up Flight Messages

The Flight Msg Config tab allows you to configure the forwarding of ASM and SSM messages whenever the flight or flight schedule information has been amended. This tab is only accessible to users who are authorized to make configuration changes to these messages.

You can configure the system to automatically generate ASM messages when there are changes made on the active flight data. You can also configure the system to automatically generate SSM messages when there are changes made on the flight schedule data.

  1. Navigate to the Flight Schedule screen. You can do this by clicking Master Data > Flight Schedule.
  2. In the Flight Msg Config tab, select the type of flight from the Flight Type drop-down menu.
  3. Select the type of message you want to configure in the ASM or SSM drop-down menu.
  4. Enter the SITA address of the receiving system in the SITA Address field.
  5. You can also set additional configuration settings on the following optional fields:
    • PIMA Address - Enter the PIMA address of the receiving system.
    • Send Restricted Flights - Select this check box to send ASM or SSM messages that have a traffic restriction. Any schedule or flight that contains a traffic restriction will have the necessary indicators in the message.
    • Send Common Sector - Select this check box to send schedule or flights that include a common sector. Any schedule or flight that contains a common sector will have the necessary indicators in the message.
  6. Select one or more triggers that will instruct the system to send the ASM or SSM message. You must select at least one trigger.
    • Manual Updates - Select this check box to send the appropriate ASM or SSM message whenever the user changes a flight or schedule record in Cargospot.
    • Incoming Messages - Select this check box to send the appropriate ASM or SSM message whenever Cargospot receives the same type of message.
    • Incoming SSIM - Select this check box to send a corresponding SSM message whenever an SSIM file is loaded.
    • Build All Flights - Select this check box to send an outgoing ASM message whenever a flight is built from schedule data. This occurs when an SSIM/SSM message received within the current booking period, or when the batch process runs and builds the flights based on schedule data.
  7. Select one or more actions that will instruct the system on what type of ASM or SSM that will be sent. You must select at least one action, but Cargospot recommends that you select all these actions.
    • NEW - Select this check box to send an SSM/NEW or ASM/NEW when a new schedule or flight is created based on the selected triggers.
    • TIM - Select this check box to send an SSM/TIM or ASM/TIM when there are changes made to the times of the schedule or flight.
    • CNL - Select this check box to send an SSM/CNL or ASM/CNL when all or part of a schedule or flight is cancelled.
    • EQT - Select this check box to send an SSM/EQT or ASM/EQT when only the aircraft type/tail number of the schedule or flight is changed.
    • RPL - Select this check box to send an SSM/RPL or ASM/RPL when there are changes in the route or a combination of the times and equipment.
    • RIN - Select this check box to send an ASM/RIN when all or part of a cancelled flight has been reinstated.
  8. Click OK.
The configuration set up has been saved.
Important: You must not change the Send Restricted Flights and Send Common Sector selections once the configuration is complete. Modifying these options may cause Cargospot to stop sending those messages and the recipient system will not receive the corresponding updates. Restoring these selections back to their original set up may cause additional discrepancies in the exchange of messages between Cargospot and the recipient system.
